The Rewards of Simplicity by Pam and Chuck D. Pierce – Book Review
Simplicity is something my family and I struggle with on a daily basis. So, when I was asked to review the book “Rewards of Simplicity” by Pam and Chuck D. Pierce by Bethany House Publishers, I was thrilled to do so.
Not only did this book challenge me to live my life more along the lines God originally intended, it helped me realize I’ve been stuck on some preconceived ideas about God. He created us to live in communion with Him and that relationship doesn’t have to be difficult.
From reading this book, I learned how simple a life devoted to God could be. Not only could it be difficult, it could be easy. The Bible tells us, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
I really enjoyed the first half of the book written by Pam, but had troubles with the second half. I’m not so sure I agree that stress and simplicity have to be at odds. I do agree that living a cluttered, complicated life can cause stress but that’s not always a bad thing. Some people are spurred into action with a little stress.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and will definitely be putting some of their suggestions into practice. I appreciate Bethany House Publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book and review it for them. I was not paid for this review but I did receive the book for free in exchange for my unbiased, honest opinion.
