Have your utilities increased dramatically?
January 23, 2009 by Mara Burke · Leave a Comment
We got our electric bill and almost fainted! It took all but $40 of my husband’s paycheck to pay it this month. So, aftter I paid the electric bill – which had over $70 in fees from TVA – and going to the store to buy the bare necessities (which cost a little over $25), we have less than $15.00 to last us a week.
I called to complain about the exorbident fees they’re charging, but it won’t do any good. While I was paying the bill, the lady behind the desk told me, “Well, the fees ARE going down by 6% with your January bill.” Big whoop-ti-do! That means next month’s fees will be a whole $4.20 less next month. That’s not going to help us a whole lot.
It seems like all our utilities are higher this month. Maybe they increase every year around this time, but I don’t recall their ever being this bad. Except for the fact that I KNOW WHO is in control, I would get discouraged. I don’t know how, and I don’t know when, but we’ll be ok.
What about you? Are you struggling with rising utility bills? Would you share what you’re doing to off-set those increases? We’ve cut back, but I’m sure there’s more we can do. I just can’t think of anything off-hand.
Have a blessed weekend. Don’t forget to include the Father in your weekend.
