Hi Mara,

I saw you at the Heart of Wisdom Community and thought I'd pop over to say hi. So HI!

I'm sorry about the uncertainty you're going through about your husband's job.

I don't know if you know about what my family went through, but we were forerunners to what so many are experiencing now. We put our lives completely in God's hands and He let us go through some really scary circumstances, but I see such good fruit in my life and in the lives of our children that it's worth all the hard times.

We all know how real God is and that He is our Provider. He really is our source, not a job or any other thing that we can do with our own hands. Our ability to get a job is even in His hands. We are really prospering now after about 6 years of having little to no income and just living by faith. My husband just got a new job 2 months ago in an industry that for some reason is thriving right now. The company he works for makes private jets. I don't really know why they're thriving when the economy is so bad, but I'm glad that they are! We're making more money than we ever have. We have had some miraculous provision come our way in the last couple of months. It has been so wonderful to see God pour out abundance on us. But He let us go through some pretty bad financial times before He started pouring out like this. I had asked Him to show me what He thinks about money and to help us have a right attitude toward money, and He took away all of our money! I started to see how much greed there was in my heart and how much I depended on money for my happiness and peace of mind. After a while, I knew that money was only a small part of life - a necessary thing in this world, but not the thing that I should base my happiness and peace on.

We learned so many lessons during that time. I really believe that God took us through it so that we could testify to others of His faithfulness and they will know that He will carry them through. We had no income for about 5 years. God provided for us by people giving to us even though we never told anybody we had a need. We did not want charity, but that's how God chose to provide for us during that time. What a humbling experience. Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you that whatever happens, just keep looking to God as your Provider. He will provide your needs. You may have to give up some extras, but the closeness you experience with Him will be worth it. We went through most of this with 8 children. We lost our house and were homeless for a while, but we always ate and we always had a roof over our heads. God is faithful even when people aren't. He will use the most unexpected ways to take care of you.

Love,
Penney
