A day in the life of . . .
Have you ever almost lost it in church?

We were visiting an old church the other day. The pastor is your stereotypical “Southern Baptist” preacher. (Please don’t think I’m being derogatory, I’m not. I just don’t know how else to describe him.)
He was talking about freedom and how it always costs something. Somehow he tied Moses into that. He kept talking about how Moses was drawn out of the water by Pharaoh’s daughter, and used the word Pharaoh several times. What was so funny was the WAY he pronounced Pharaoh – it sounded like “fairy-o” and I almost lost it.
My hubby was elbowing me in the ribs so I didn’t laugh. I did have to cover my mouth so the pastor couldn’t see me smiling and almost losing it. I would have been OK except he said it over, and over, and over. When we left the church, I did, I cracked up. Thankfully the door was closed and I wasn’t laughing too loudly.
So, I’d love to hear about a time you’ve almost lost it in church. I’d love to know I’m not the only person who’s done that.

I had a pastor once who said to open the window because he needed “a fresh of breath air” ::giggle::
Our pastor was talking about how some people view going to church as a “duty.” He talked about “duty” for a little while, mentioning the word “duty” several times. Then he told the congregation that they needed to “shake the duty” off. Although we knew what he was talking about, the way he said it and the body motions made us all bust out laughing.
His wife was sitting on the front row and had her head in her hands just laughing with the rest of us. LOL
