Do you have a love-hate relationship with spring?

I love the warmer weather, the beautiful flowers, and the sounds of spring. However, I hate that everyone I love seems toblkeyesusan.jpg come down with something.

Right now, my hubby is suffering from allergies, and the goldenrod hasn’t even begun to bloom yet! The kids are a little sniffly, and I have itchy eyes. Oh the joys of pollen floating around in the air.

But, I refuse to complain – too much. :) I mean, I would much rather have itchy eyes than to have to run my heater 24 hours a day! Already, my electric bill has gone down by almost $50 compared to what I paid last month. I’m definitely NOT going to complain about THAT!!

Of course, it’s been close pretty warm, and I like that. My son asked the other day if we could turn the air conditioner on yet. He was HOT. HA! We’ve opened the windows, which brings the pollen INTO the house, and we’re just suffering along. Ah, springtime in Alabama. You gotta love it!

We’ve already grilled some hamburgers out, but that’s not just a springtime or summertime activity in our house. My hubby will brave the cold during the winter to enjoy a really great steak or hamburger.

Speaking of hamburgers, my family has decided we’re going to boycott McDonald’s. They announced that they are going headlong into supporting the gay lifestyle. If they’re going to do that, we won’t buy from them anymore.

I’m not homophobic, before someone labels me as such, I just believe the lifestyle is wrong, and I won’t support people who support it. I do have friends who are gay, but that doesn’t mean I condone or support their lifestyle. It just means that I care about them as individuals, and if you ask them, they’ll tell you that I’m not shy about stating my beliefs about how they choose to live their life. However, it is THEIR life, and they’ll have to answer to God for how they’ve lived it.

The Bible says that it’s an abomination for a man to lie with a man, as if he were a woman. So, if the Bible says it’s wrong, it’s wrong in my book, too. I believe the idea of “loving the sinner but hating the sin,” I can love a person who chooses that lifestyle as a friend (I have and I do), and try to lead them out of it, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to tell my kids that it’s ok, that God thinks it’s ok. That would be a lie, and I won’t lie to my kids like that.

I guess that’s part of the reason why I chose to homeschool. More and more often children are being told in public school, either through curriculum they’re forced to use, or books their teachers read to them, that homosexuality is just another way of living. That it’s ok. Well, it’s not, and I won’t have someone else telling my kids that it is.

Well, I’ll get off my soapbox and get back to work. Have a great Thursday! Be blessed!
