I’m getting scared

I have been hearing, seeing, and reading things during this Presidential election that have me deeply concerned.

First, I need to state that I am: Christian, Republican, and woman. So, please keep this in mind. While these are facts, and they go to the very core of who I am, I am NOT racist. Anything I say in this post comes from things that I have seen and heard. I have no problem with an African American or a woman running for President. I have a problem with these particular candidates.

From my point of view, I cannot support Hillary Clinton as President. If Elizabeth Dole, Condaleezza Rice, or even some other Republican or Democratic female candidate were running, I might be tempted to vote for them. I just don’t personally trust Hillary Clinton. Heck, I don’t even like her. She’s gruff, domineering, and she lies through her teeth. She promised she wouldn’t run for President when she was elected to the Senate, and here she is, right in the thick of it. If she’s not going to keep her “promise” to the state she was elected to serve, can we really trust her to keep any of the promises she’s made while on the stump?

Now, on to Barak Obama. There are a number of red flags that have been thrown up all along the way, and yet you don’t hear the national media mention these flags.

1. He won’t put his hand over his heart or say the Pledge of Allegiance. If he won’t say the Pledge, can we believe that he’s going to be working toward the best interest of the country?

2. There are indications that he has had training as a Muslim. This, in and of itself, is not wrong. He is, as an American, free to follow whatever religion he chooses. I don’t begrudge him that. I am concerned, however, that he might be a little too familiar and friendly with some people that may seek to do the U.S. harm.

3. His former pastor has made many disparaging remarks about the U.S. in the time he was Obama’s pastor. I’m sorry, when I go to church, I take what the pastor says to heart. What I’m taught from the pulpit does translate into what I live. I’m afraid that some of his former pastor’s statements have also affected Mr. Obama and his way of thought. If that’s the case, do we really want this man in charge of our country?

Before anyone heads down the “racist” path, Obama’s color has nothing to do with why I don’t like him. I don’t trust him. If Alan Keyes had made a better showing, I would have voted for him over McCain in a heart beat.
So no one can accuse me of bashing on Democrats, I have my concerns about John McCain. I personally feel the man is too liberal. He has sided with the Democrats on many things that I feel he should have voted with his party. I’m not at all comfortable with his being the “candidate” of choice for my party. I feel like we’ve had McCain railroaded down our throats, and I’m not at all happy.

I imagine, with the candidates that are available, I will vote for McCain, but I’m not happy about it. I don’t feel I have a choice except to vote against whoever might get the Democratic nod.

I know that until the actual election, I am going to praying a lot. The country is going to need it, whichever candidate ultimately ends up in office.
