I voted, did you?

I was up pretty late last night watching the Primary results. I have to admit, I’m a little bit surprised by some of the results. How did “your” candidate do? Were they successful or a little less than?

I’m really confused about how all these news stations can “call” an election they way they do. I mean, around 12:30 a.m., California had just closed their polls. Within less than 1/2 hour, they were “declaring” victories for Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Only 15% of theĀ  results had been tabulated! How on earth could they declare a “winner” there?!

In fact, one of the commentators had mentioned that there were over 2 million absentee votes that would have to be tabulated. Don’t those votes matter? What if they were votes for someone OTHER than the declared winners and what if those absentee votes would shift the balance of votes to the other candidate? Will they come back and say, “Hey, we were wrong. We shouldn’t have declared that.”

Didn’t they learn anything from the 2000 Presidential Elections? I sure hope they don’t continue this trend to call a state early when November rolls around.

Well, now that I’ve ranted a little, I’d better be on my way. Pray for the people that have lost loved ones in the tornadoes of yesterday and today. There were tornadoes this morning here in Alabama and one confirmed fatality.

Be careful if you’re in the midst of bad weather, and remember to tell your family that you love them. Stay safe and be blessed.
